Dr. Sean Shaw is the Senior Environmental Geochemist for a Saskatoon based Mining Consulting firm.

Sean recently ran for Saskatoon City Council in Ward 4 in the 2009 Municipal Elections, where he garnered 46% of the popular vote in a narrow defeat to the incumbent councillor.

Sean is currently the Chair of the Saskatoon Environmental Advisory Committee to Saskatoon City Council, Chair of the Quint Development Board of Directors and Interim Chair of Saskatoon Cycles.

Sean lives in Caswell Hill with his wife Megan and their Yellow Lab, Dakota.

    Something I would like too see addressed is how efficient does are city operate. I am involved in snow clearing and it seems too me that I am doing pretty much 3 times the amount compared too the city for less cost.

    Also…this interesting point…..what happens if we ever get really high interest rates. If will break most homeowners, like in Calgary in the 80′s. Real estate would collapse and the cities budget will be in tough spot. Thanks.

    Yup, Tim, it has been suggested that Harper (and probably to a lesser extent Brad Wall, even though Brad may think more like Harper than Harper) is helping to suppress interest rates to appeal to property owners. This strategy can work for a while, but the market has a way of catching up and then rebounding after an artificial manipulation like that. Think of the recent events in USA as an example, and then ask yourself: “Do we need that here?” I, for one, think not. Just because things were done one way in the USA does not necessarily mean they should be done the same way here.
